As the Bremer Valley region continues to experience strong residential growth, the Thagoona Neighbourhood Centre will help reduce travel times and make everyday life more convenient for families moving into the area.
Plans for the centre include a major supermarket and specialty stores, a medical centre, service station, tavern, fast food outlets, and commercial spaces, complementing existing retail options in Walloon and Rosewood. Its central location midway between these townships will provide convenient access to essential services for both existing infrastructure and new developments in the area.
The broader masterplan also allows for a community centre and the potential inclusion of a primary school, reinforcing Thagoona as a central hub for families.
By providing these services locally, the Thagoona Neighbourhood Centre will reduce the need for travel outside the corridor for everyday shopping, while making a significant contribution to local employment, with an estimated 340 jobs once fully operational.
Lennium Group Development Manager Ian Worthington said the centre had been carefully planned to support everyday living for future communities.
“This neighbourhood centre is all about creating a space that supports everyday living – from grabbing groceries to meeting friends for a coffee,” Ian said.
“We wanted to ensure it caters to the needs of our community, offering convenience and amenity close to home.”
For future Highland Walloon and Newfields Thagoona residents, the centre will provide easy access to everyday essentials, greatly reducing the need for trips into Ipswich or other major centres for groceries, medical appointments, or dining out.
The centre will also act as a social anchor, with landscaped public spaces and community facilities creating new places for people to meet, connect, and participate in local programs or events.
To support the new centre, Ipswich City Council has already approved road upgrades, including improvements to Adelong Avenue, ensuring safe and convenient access. Flood-resilient design is also a key focus, helping the town centre remain a sustainable hub for years to come.
The Thagoona Neighbourhood Centre represents an exciting opportunity for future Highland Walloon and Newfields Thagoona communities to enjoy modern, convenient services and a vibrant community heart within the western growth corridor.
