First builder breaks ground as Highland Walloon comes to life

Excitement is building at Highland Walloon, with the first slab now underway as our new community begins to take shape.

G.J. Gardner Homes Ipswich, led by Director and franchise owner Jono Collins, is the first builder on the ground—marking a significant milestone as Highland Walloon transitions from planning to construction.

With preparations underway and the slab scheduled to be poured this week on Lot 15, followed by a second next week, Jono said it was exciting to be leading the way in a community already generating strong interest.

“It’s great to be part of something that’s just starting to take shape,” he said.

“We’re seeing a lot of opportunity here, particularly with the pricing of the land. It’s giving people a foot in the door where they might not otherwise be able to afford it.”

As construction begins, activity across the site is ramping up quickly, with multiple homes already in the pipeline.

Once slabs are poured, buyers won’t have to wait long to see progress, with frames arriving within days and construction moving ahead at pace.

“We’ve got another two site cuts happening next week and another the week after, so it’s moving at a good pace,” Jono said.

“We’ll have frames delivered the following week and trades on site straight away, so things move pretty quickly from that point,” he said.

Located in the fast-growing Bremer Valley, Highland Walloon is attracting strong interest from buyers seeking affordability without compromising on space or connectivity.

G.J. Gardner Homes will also feature in Highland Walloon’s future Display Village, which will showcase a range of home designs from leading builders.

Looking ahead, Jono said the strong presence of owner-occupiers would help shape a vibrant and connected neighbourhood.

“I think it’s going to be a really good community. There’ll be a lot of people who take pride in their homes and want to be part of something long term,” he said.

“It’s also a great spot. You’re close to Ipswich, not far from Brisbane, and you’ve got transport like the train nearby.

“The display village is very important too because it gives people the chance to walk through a home and really understand the space, which can be hard to visualise from a plan.”

As more builders prepare to break ground in the coming weeks, Highland Walloon continues to move from vision to reality, with the first homes now underway and a new community coming to life.
